Sri Lanka-beach There has been a 25 percent rise in tourist arrivals from the UK since the end of the war, a high official of the Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority told the Daily News.

Figures also show that tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka rose by nearly 32 percent in January. Tourists have shown a huge interest during the first winter season since the end of the civil war in visiting Sri Lanka, he said.

He said the vast majority of tourists from the UK have been arriving from London’s two major airports and a considerable number have also arrived from Manchester. He said there does not seem to be any impact from the “boycott Sri Lanka” campaign unsuccessfully carried out by sections of the Tamil diaspora in England.
